At a networking event in Milton Keynes this morning, the guest speaker was the managing director of D4M Ltd. Earlier this year Julia Charles appeared on Dragon’s Den to secure an investment for her company. Several months later they have the backing of James Caan and business is going well. D4M specialises in event management, with an emphasis on hiring out the tree people we remember from the Dragon’s Den…apparently trees that can jump out and grab you are very popular in the events industry!
As a fellow entrepreneur, our managing director found Julia’s talk uplifting and inspiring. Milton Keynes is known for being a centre for big headquarters, but it is reassuring for younger businesses such as Ikroh to see that there are other vibrant, flourishing new businesses around us. In particular, her observations about the importance of the work-life balance struck a chord with him. Daniel agrees with her that having young children provides both motivation to run your own business and one of the rewards for doing so.
